This is a new group designed to help homeowners in difficulty: providing free legal advice and test cases on the legality of some mortgage applications. I'm an advisor to the group, and proud to be. I think this debate is long overdue in Ireland--just what will we do with the overhang of residential debt in Ireland? It's clear there is a ticking timebomb in the banks' balance sheets in the form of loans to residential property that won't be repaid. The Newbeginning campaign is taking a small step in advancing the debate on what should be done about this debt, and crucially, they are looking at the problem from the perspective of individuals in debt, rather than just institutions like banks and the government.

I just saw a piece about "New Beginnings" on the news and I wanted to drop a note to show my support for you and "New Beginnings".
It is so positive and hopeful to see what you and the group are doing to help people, who find themselves in the terrible position of losing their homes.
It is wonderful to see a pro active group like "New Beginnings" actually doing something that makes a difference to the way the banks behave.
So many people in this country, and more to come, are at their mercy, when they have behaved abominably.
What you are doing is moving and brings hope, perhaps even spurring others to take action to change the course and outcome of the terrible predicament this country is in, which the banks are largely responsible for.

Thanks very much for your kind words. I'm not sure what's going to happen next with this initiative, but it is clear something needs to be done. I'll keep plugging away at it, in any case.
Congratulations on this very courageous initiative. Greed and targets set by a very unscrupulous few has left a very long trail of distruction in the wake of the infamous tiger. Unfortunately profits at any cost, has affected a lot of badly advised poor souls in our country who are now at the mercy of the sellers of these mortgages. If I could be bold enough to suggest that the business community be invited to help support a fund to be administered by impartial individuals, and the funds raised from pre tax profits are used to alleviate the suffering of the people you have so kindly offered to help free of charge.
